FOG 101 Training

In Partnership with the Colorado Industrial Pretreatment Coordinators Association

Come join us for a year long, 5 part FOG training series! This training will address FOG issues in depth from a real-world pragmatic point of view. What works and what doesn't? What is an effective program that reduces the problems that FOG creates for regulators and producers? From new programs to long administered programs, there is something for everyone. Training is designed to be interactive and collaborative, with attendees coming away with the tools their program needs to move forward towards an effective, realistic approach.

This training series will consist of 4 virtual 1.5-hour modules and 1 in-person 3-4-hour session including field training. An overview of these modules is detailed below:

Module 1 - FOG Program Overview

The first module serves as an overview and introduction of FOG Control Programs. Topics discussed include the importance and necessity of FOG Control, FOG’s impacts to the POTW, requirements and characteristics of a robust program, inspections, and a general introduction to enforcement.

Module 2 - GCD Inspections

The second module provides more detailed information on the functions of Gravity Grease Interceptors and Hydromechanical Grease Interceptors, and on the process of effectively inspecting these devices during installation and for compliance. Supporting case studies will be provided.

Module 3 - Liquid Waste Haulers/Pumpers

The third module will be formatted as a hybrid classroom and field training. This module will dive into management of a liquid waste hauler program, including manifesting, record management, preferred pumper programs, followed by a demonstration of the workings of a pump truck and a real-world compliance inspection of a grease removal device.

Module 4 - Sizing and Performance Standards

The fourth module serves as a deep dive into the sizing and performance standards of grease removal devices, including sizing, type of device, and final authority.
